2025 Jobs Not Guns/Jobs Not Drugs East of the River Youth Career Building Workshop
About this event
Jobs Not Guns was created to assist Mayor Bowser’s initiative, “Building Blocks DC, Office of Gun Violence Prevention” to decrease gun violence in the district by creating jobs and building careers. Jobs not Drugs was established as a member of Transformers Rite of Passage Experience (R.O.P.E.) coalition of organizations to provide opioid abatement East of the River in Wards 7 and 8. Funded by the DC Department of Behavioral Health.
Jobs not Guns holds Recruitment Fairs to offer avenues to employment, job training, and supportive services for District residents. In addition to the LWVDC table, there were large employers such as Clark Construction, trade unions, the Armed Services, local community support nonprofits and the District of Columbia government which offers similar events such as the Welcome Home Expo for Returning Citizens that is taking place next Wednesday, the 23rd of April.
Volunteers are needed to staff a table to distribute information about voting and statehood.
