101 Ways to Get Involved!

These suggestions for involvement are not in any order of priority so read through and find the right one for you.

  1. be part of our People Powered Fair Maps campaign, a nationwide League initiative

  2. be our point person for voter registration at marches and similar events

  3. join our campaign finance committee

  4. see if we can make a table card/sign for Vote411 for local restaurants and bars to display

  5. be our point person with our coalition partner: DC Voting rights

  6. be our point person with our coalition partner: DC Statehood

  7. learn more about housing in DC and report back to us so we know when we need to take action. CNHED - coalition for nonprofit housing and economic development is the place to start.

  8. be or find our pro-bono CPA

  9. help us document the history of LWVDC

  10. serve on the budget committee

  11. serve on our Development committee

  12. help us maintain a list of places of worship for voter registration outreach

  13. be our point person for the Census

  14. develop a list of coops, condos and organizations that might need our election supervision services

  15. be part of our theatre lovers group for voter registration with 2020OneWomanOneVote and Vote411

  16. chair a monthly membership event

  17. find a speaker on the importance of the upcoming Census

  18. find a speaker on the pros and cons of lowering the voting age to 16

  19. find a speaker on the issues around a Constitutional Convention

  20. help us reach out to Charter high schools for voter registration

  21. participate in a voter registration event at a farmers’ market

  22. participate in a voter registration event at a high school

  23. find the contact person to set up voter registration at the Audi soccer stadium

  24. Register voters at one of the monthly naturalization ceremonies

  25. find the contact person to set up voter registration for a Caps hockey game

  26. design a campaign to grow our membership

  27. start a student mini-unit of the League at a local university

  28. help facilitate a LWVDC after-school club at a local high school

  29. sign up a new member

  30. join our Statehood committee

  31. participate in a voter registration event at a local university

  32. help write and edit the new online edition of Know DC, our League’s guide to citizenship and government in DC

  33. be our Twitter guru

  34. write an article for our DC Voter quarterly newsletter

  35. write an article for our webpage

  36. be our instagram manager

  37. attend an NCA event

  38. find the contact person for voter registration at a Mystics game

  39. design a membership flyer

  40. join the Centennial Celebration committee

  41. work on a GOTV campaign in ward 7

  42. be our Press Manager

  43. come to an event and bring a friend

  44. help get vote411.org PSA announcements in theatre programs

  45. join the team for the Candidate Forum taking place in early spring 2020

  46. participate in a voter registration drive at a local vocational school

  47. develop the list of vocational schools in DC

  48. help edit the DC Voter

  49. figure out a way to get vote411.org coffee cuffs at Starbucks and/or other coffee shops

  50. If you work for a law firm, share the contact info for your community service leader

  51. connect us to the community service leader in your workplace

  52. host a luncheon party to tell your friends about the work of LWVDC

  53. make sure our local real estate agents give their clients voter registration materials

  54. add something to this list

  55. be our “Good and Welfare” correspondent - send get well cards, congratulatory notes, as needed etc

  56. be a buddy for a new member

  57. work on a GOTV campaign in ward 8

  58. help us find funding for our voter registration team identifying apparel item

  59. join our membership team

  60. join the voter services team

  61. give a student membership

  62. make your next birthday gift a membership to our League

  63. give your partner or a loved one a membership in our League (the League is not for women only!)

  64. research opportunities for grant money

  65. host a dinner party to tell your friends about the work of the LWVDC

  66. put a notice about vote411.org in your neighborhood list-serve

  67. put up a notice on your workplace bulletin board about vote411.org

  68. welcome a new neighbor with a voter registration form and news about LWVDC

  69. put an Equality for DC sign in your yard

  70. put an Equality for DC sign in your window

  71. tell your friends around the country to support Equality for DC

  72. host a cocktail party to tell your friends about the work of LWVDC

  73. put up a notice about vote411.org at your place of worship

  74. ask your place of worship to include voter registration information in the new member welcome packet

  75. research who to contact at PepCo about putting vote411.org info in their bills

  76. find the contact person at the Washington Post for a PSA for vote411.org

  77. help a neighbor get to the polls on election day

  78. put a notice about vote411.org in your child’s PTA bulletin

  79. give LWVDC membership as a holiday gift

  80. give yourself a tax gift - donate to LWVDC

  81. post a photo of yourself at a LWVDC event on Facebook

  82. post a photo of yourself at a LWVDC event on Instagram

  83. tweet while you’re attending a LWV event

  84. research possible venues for small group events

  85. alert us to possible voter registration opportunities all around town

  86. go to an ANC meeting and let your neighborhood leaders know about the work of the LWV

  87. be a buddy for one of our senior members; help her attend an event

  88. capture an oral (or other format) history of one of long-standing members

  89. tell us what issue you see in our city that you’re keen to learn more about

  90. research how to add LWV to the “extra round-up charge” on Lyft

  91. help us get a PSA for vote411.org in Washingtonian Magazine

  92. help us get a PSA for vote411.org in neighborhood newspapers

  93. see if we can make a poster for local business to promote GOTV efforts

  94. find funding for this poster and arrange for production

  95. design LWVDC holiday and/or note cards

  96. be on the nominating committee for next year’s board

  97. nominate yourself for the board!

  98. share this list with a friend and see if there’s something s/he is keen to do

  99. look for festivals that could host voter registration

  100. underwrite some of our website improvements

  101. see if movie theaters can host voter registration tables
