Volunteer Support: Screening of "The Best of Enemies"

  • National Archives William G. McGowan Theater 700 Constitution Avenue Northwest Washington, DC, 20004 United States (map)

2020 One Woman One Vote Festival and the National Archives Foundation are hosting a screening of

written and directed by Robin Bissell; inspired by the book by Oshay Gray Davidson starring Taraji P. Henson (Hidden Figures) and Sam Rockwell (Three Billboards). Event partners include National Archives and Records Administration, League of Women Voters of the District of Columbia, and National Woman’s Party.

Based on a true story, THE BEST OF ENEMIES centers on the unlikely relationship between Ann Atwater (Henson), an outspoken civil rights activist, and C.P. Ellis (Rockwell), a local Ku Klux Klan leader who reluctantly co-chaired a community summit, battling over the desegregation of schools in Durham, North Carolina during the racially-charged summer of 1971. The incredible events that unfolded would change Durham and the lives of Atwater and Ellis forever.

The Best of Enemies opens in theaters nationwide April 5, 2019.
