Get published and promote the League! The Communications Committee seeks opportunities to make the League’s work more visible in our community through the website, email, the newsletter, social media, and blog. We also work with the media to raise awareness about the League’s activities.
The Communications Committee has its hands in all aspects of our organization, the committee is always busy and ready for new volunteers, like you, to help spread the word.
Interested in getting involved?
Print Newsletter, The DC Voter. We publish a quarterly print newsletter for our members. Our team creates and edits the content, lays out the newsletter, works with the printer, and gets the newsletter into the mail.
Email Newsletter, The DC League Update. Twice a month, we publish an email newsletter.
Website. Our website needs regular updating, particularly adding upcoming events and news stories. We use a drag and drop website editor that is easy and intuitive to use. Volunteers would need personal access to a computer and high-speed internet, as well as time for in person training.
Social Media. Our team is currently active on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Social Media is a great way to reach a large audience in a personal and immediate way. Let us know if you are interested in helping on one or more of our sites or are interested in working on one we aren't active in yet. We are always looking for more team members to help create and plan content, post, and monitor our social media sites.
Languages. We are in need of volunteers who are fluent in other languages to help us reach members of our community who are non-native English speakers. Critical languages, as identified by the DC government for equal access, include Spanish, Amharic, Chinese, French, Korean, and Vietnamese.
Strategic Planning & Analysis. To pull all of our various communications channels together, our team creates an overall communications strategy to identify our goals .
